The ability to visually convey the poetry that exists and subtly manifests itself in every single moment of existence is a hallmark of those artists capable of listening to everything around them, of observing nature, the elements, and the cosmos as if they were musical instruments in a magical symphony, in perfect harmony between what is visible and what, though it exists, is not. To successfully represent this kind of enveloping energy, which belongs as much to the external as to the internal dimensions, the most fitting style, and also the freest from an expressive standpoint, is one devoid of form. This is precisely because, in the world of the possible, the intuitive, and the perceptible, there can be no formal rules that would, through rationality, limit a gesture guided by impulse and the immediacy of feeling. Eos’s art is this and much more, for she manages to transport the viewer into her inner world stirred by the realization of how listening to one’s surroundings can connect with and shape the reality that materializes based on the interpretation of those who experience it.
Abstract Expressionism, at the time of its emergence in the 1950s, demonstrated just how essential it was to reclaim the emotionality and subjectivity that had been completely lost in previous years, when artists associated with Abstract Art, as embodied in De Stijl, Suprematism, and Geometric Abstraction, sought to assert the importance of the artistic gesture independent of any emotion or reference to reality. The American artists, led by Jackson Pollock, instead drew on the early abstract theories of Wassily Kandinsky who linked the absence of form to emotions and the pleasure derived from listening to music translating these into a fluctuating and chaotic representation on the canvas, exploring these ideas to completely overturn the rigid guidelines of earlier movements, emphasizing that without emotion there can be no engagement, neither on the part of the artist nor on the part of the viewer, who thus feels detached from the work.
Action Painting, applied to the expressive nature of each artist and thus developed into various approaches, from Dripping to Color Field, from gestural painting to Minimalism, was thus the means of conveying inner turmoil, the amplification of sensations, and the central concept that could no longer remain unexpressed. Pollock’s impetuosity found its most fitting expression in Dripping, since the paint was literally flung chaotically onto the canvas without any control not even that of the hand meant to hold the brush; Mark Rothko’s reflective and evocative calm found its ideal expression in Color Field painting, whose voice was defined solely and exclusively by the choice of colors and by shades that either blended or, at times, contrasted; Franz Kline’s agitated Minimalism manifested itself in all its fullness through gestural painting, in which white served as the backdrop for the incisiveness of black, which functioned as a singular and concise channel of communication. And finally, Barnett Newman employed monochrome, effectively laying the foundations of Minimalism, to convey a sense of transcendence and spirituality that could emerge from works devoid of any reference points or disorder, almost as if the still calm served to let the inner self speak.
Thus, Abstract Expressionism emerged as a movement centered on the expressive and inner freedom of each participating artist, with the sole, indispensable common denominator of infusing the canvases with subjective emotion capable of reaching and resonating with the viewer’s innermost feelings. The French artist of Polish descent Laura Rucinska, known by her artist name Eos, is part of the Abstract Expressionist movement, though she enriches it with a delicate and soft touch, as well as with the fundamental concepts that guide her life and her perspective on the world, according to which everything that revolves around the human being is something animated and interconnected with a higher dimension, that of the Universe understood as a spiritual entity that communicates with the individual’s soul in an intimate and unambiguous way when he turns to it with the positive openness of one who is ready to receive. Within this type of communication, every element and every emotion takes on a different meaning far deeper than that of mere observation or a fleeting thought silenced by the pragmatism of life; on the contrary, in Eos’s art, everything possesses a unique and magical energy capable of engaging anyone who stands before the expressive softness of her canvases, which convey the lightness that can determine how every circumstance, every event, and every vibration is experienced. The works are characterized by an ethereal, intangible quality, it is almost as if their softness were meant to envelop the viewer and transport him directly into the dimension depicted, or into the landscape evoked and made explicit by the titles; the color is essentially applied through a Color Field in patches, areas of color interrupted by sponged overlays of other shades that impart the softness characteristic of her artworks.
The choice of hues harmonizes with Eos’s state of mind, with the feelings she receives while attuning to the surrounding energies and then emanates, allowing them to spread through her inner, personal filter, as if they were messages to be communicated outwardly, enabling the viewer to perceive their positivity and an alternative interpretation. What must necessarily emerge from her paintings is the sensation she herself feels within, as she seeks the joy, light, and intrinsic beauty inherent in existence that manifests whenever a human being enters into harmony and allows himself to intuitively perceive what is, rather than what appears to be. Each canvas can be interpreted from an external perspective or an internal one, as in the case of Le Passage, which could refer to a place, a path traversed that stirred an intense emotion in the artist the moment she found herself immersed in it, or to a transition of the soul, an individual evolution through which to undertake the journey necessary for elevation toward a higher consciousness. Or again, by using predominant shades of blue and light blue, colors associated with the sky and water, and therefore with movement, flow, and ascent, the work may suggest the need to cross the imaginary threshold essential to rebirth; and it is perhaps for this reason that the artist includes small golden spots, suggesting the light of a new self that seeks to emerge and is destined to do so. The painting Coeur Océan, on the other hand, belongs to a group of works that have a physical reference, the ocean to be precise yet serve as a metaphor for a universe as mysterious as it is intense in the meanings it carries, because water is a symbol of regeneration, renewal, and elusiveness, qualities belonging as much to the element it represents as to life itself, ince human beings are never immutably the same, they change based on the events that unfold, the people they meet, and the moments they seize or let slip away.
Thus, in her desire to portray the heart of that fluctuating world, Eos highlights precisely its unstoppable nature, that impossibility of pinpointing a center, which a moment later is swept away by the impetuosity of the currents. The white brushstrokes evoke the foam of waves that make their power felt; just as events occur naturally and neutrally, it is only the individual who chooses to assign them a negative or positive meaning based on their interpretation and attitude toward life. The heart alluded to in the title is thus the essence, the very core of an existence that acquires meaning only when lived to the fullest and when one remains open even when everything seems overwhelming. Vie is a more instinctive canvas, its luminosity is as striking as the magic Eos manages to create through the interplay of delicate, fresh hues that unequivocally reveal her openness to the possibilities and opportunities that arise, allowing her to see only the best in them because every event, every circumstance, carries with it the possibility of growth and learning that every individual has the opportunity to seize day after day.
The work’s vibrancy conveys serenity and, at the same time, enthusiasm for everything that belongs to everyday life, those little things that can be ignored or appreciated it depends solely on the individual to adopt the right attitude; indeed, Eos urges the viewer to tune in to nature, to his primal instinct that could free him from the fears and mental obstacles that all too often become their greatest barriers to achieving happiness. Eos exhibits primarily at her art gallery, L’Atelier des Rêves in Paris, which she shares with artist Franck Bénéteau, as well as at international art fairs and group exhibitions abroad—in Monaco, Brussels, Madrid, and Salzburg—and her artworks have been featured in major international publications, including the Atlante dell’Arte Contemporanea 2026 Giunti MoMa Edition.
