Yes, il nuovo album live fa rivivere il tour per il 50esimo anniversario della band

MILANO – Gli Yes hanno festeggiato il loro 50esimo anniversario l’anno scorso con un tour esteso che include gli spettacoli in Europa, Nord America e Giappone. Quest’anno, i membri della Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ritornano con un nuovo doppio album live che è stato registrato durante il tour per l’anniversario del gruppo.

‘Yes 50 Live’ è disponibile dal 2 agosto su doppio CD e 4 LP. Lo stesso giorno l’audio sarà disponibile in digitale per lo streaming e il download. La copertina di Yes 50 Live è stata dipinta da Roger Dean, di cui artwork e simbolica calligrafia sono sinonimi dell’identità della band. Le versioni CD e vinile si presentano entrambe con un booklet di otto pagine che includono fotografie del tour scattate da Gottlieb Brothers.

‘Yes 50 Live’ contiene 13 performance live delle canzoni chiave che fecero degli Yes la band progressive più durevole, ambiziosa e virtuosa della storia del rock. Quello che rende questa raccolta ancora più straordinaria è il numero di membri che compongono la band. Infatti, la gran parte dell’album fu registrato a Philadelphia, dove 10 membri degli Yes erano sul palco durante il bis: i membri attuali Steve Howe, Geoff Downes, Alan White, Billy Sherwood ,Jon Davison, Jay Schellen, più i membri precedenti Tony Kaye, Patrick Moraz, Tom Brislin e Trevor Horn. Patrick Moraz suona in Soon e Tony Kaye in Yours is no Disgrace, Roundabout e Starship Trooper.

Le performance live senza interruzioni di ‘Yes 50 Live’ intrecciano insieme più ere dal passato della band con canzoni da 10 diversi album in studio registrati tra il 1970 e il 2011.

Naturalmente la raccolta mette in evidenza la musica più importante del gruppo, incluse “Starship Trooper,” dallo Yes Album (1971), “Roundabout” da Fragile (1971) e la title track di Close to the Edge (1972). Il nuovo album live in studio sottolinea inoltre una parte del lavoro più avventuroso degli Yes come un estratto da “The Ancient,” una traccia che apparse per la prima volta in Tales From Topographic Oceans nel 1973 e “Soon,”, che è la sezione finale in “The Gates Of Delirium” da Relayer del 1974.
